We hope to receive many poster contributions and are also organizing a print service for a cost of 25 EUR per poster (A0 portrait). The best posters will receive awards sponsored by Gordon Drake, who is sending the following message to the PSAS participants:

The precision physics of simple atomic systems provides a unique opportunity to test our fundamental understanding of nature and to search for evidence of new physics beyond the standard model. Although the community is not large, it attracts some of the most talented people on both the experimental and theoretical sides. The field provides a prime example of theory and experiment progressing hand-in-hand.

I have been an active member of that community for over 50 years, and have many fond memories. I am particularly proud to see the successes of the students and collaborators who have worked with me. I regret that I am unable to attend PSAS 2018 in person, but in my absence, I would like to sponsor two prizes for the best student posters.

A special thanks to Savely Karshenboim, Eberhard Widmann and the Local Organizing Committee for their work in carrying on the PSAS tradition. Best wishes for a successful conference.

Excursion & Conference Dinner:

We will visit the Monastery of Klosterneuburg (Stift Klosterneuburg) located at the outskirts of Vienna on afternoon of Wednesday the 16th of May. A guided tour finishing with a wine tasting and the conference dinner in the Restaurant Stiftskeller of the Monastry are all inculded in the additonal fee of 20EUR, which should be paid together with the conference fee.

The Monastery of Klosterneuburg is a religious and cultural center as well as Austria‘s oldest winery. About 50 Augustinian monks are living and working here on Vienna’s doorstep. The Monastery was founded in 1114 by the Earl Leopold III of the house of the Babenberg. The Monastery of Klosterneuburg is of historical significance for the origins of Austria and later became an important holy site for the House of Habsburg.

This tour gives you a fascinating insights into 900 years of history.
